A student asked what is a bullet journal.
So a post has been added here for reference and of course, inspiration to those who need to get organized with a daily/weekly plan!
Commitment is a requirement as a daily ritual of writing and adding to or checking off items completed.
Bullet journals (usually quality dot grid paper) can be bought or can be made up of anything but mostly contain a short term, mid term and long term plans, even life plans.
They can also contain:
- collections (like quotes or ideas, books to read),
- lists (favorites, to do/task with check offs)
- events
- reminders
- exercise
- notes
- budgets
- goals (travel, money saved, IRAs/401Ks etc)
Little drawn icons can be used for significance like:
- ! (exclamation) = inspiration
- * (star)= priority
- $ (dollar sign) = money/budget
- eye = watch or explore
A layout can be done for a day or a week and is usually in blocks with creative doodling. They help you keep on task and get things done.

Update:
Several students searched and found inexpensive journals (for starters) with quality paper for an average of $10-$15 at Amazon or Target. A few found deals at Amazon for $5-$8. and free shipping! Note that hard covers are more expensive than soft covers. Size, number of pages, quality of paper also plays a role in pricing, sizes can be approximately 5x7, 8x10, 7x10 to mention a few.
Also mentioned were some stencils/templates to help put things in blocks or add whimsy. Depends on how many stencil sheets there are but price range was $5.-15.
Make sure you get quality paper that ink does not bleed from page to page if you are using markers.
Pens discussed or used:
Sakura Microns, Sunacme, Ibayam, Huhuhero fineliners, Bic Markings, Sharpies
